>Saving energy is even easier than you think. By simply making small changes to your everyday routine, you can reduce your daily, weekly, monthly, and annual energy usage and save money on your electric bill at the same time. Today, your friends at West Coast Solar will share some handy tips to help you save energy every day. Learn more below!
>Follow These Everyday Tips for Saving Energy
>From replacing your light bulbs to using the energy-saving settings on your electronic devices, there is a myriad of ways to cut down on your energy use, which cannot only save you your money, but can also reduce your carbon footprint. Follow these tips to get started!
>Replace/Update Your Light Bulbs
>Light bulbs may seem like they don’t use as much energy, but they use more than you think. What’s more, each room in your home has an average of three light bulbs and when you multiply that times the rooms, hallways, bathrooms, garage, and exterior lights, they really add up.
Tip:> Swap out those old or high-energy light bulbs for energy-efficient bulbs such as LED or compact fluorescent (CFL) bulbs to use less energy and save money each month.
>Replace Your HVAC Filters Regularly
>HVAC systems are an essential component for every household and business, especially here in Northern California. That’s why you will want to ensure your HVAC system is running at its full potential without using more energy than necessary.
Tip: >By changing out your filters on your furnace and air conditioners regularly, you can keep your HVAC system running optimally. Change thinner filters (1-2 inches) every three to four months, medium filters (4 inches) every six months, and thicker filters once a year. Replace air conditioner filters every 30 days or so, and for high-quality air filters, you can change those about every six months.
>Use Those Energy-Saving Settings
>Most modern electronic devices and appliances these days have energy-saving features on them, but these settings often go unused.
Tip: >Take advantage of these features to reduce how much energy these items use. Better yet, if you still have outdated devices and appliances that use high amounts of energy when running them, you should consider replacing them with Energy-Star-Certified devices. They are a lot more affordable than you might think!
>Unplug Your Chargers
>One surprising energy sucker that you have in your home that you may not realize is your chargers. It’s commonplace to leave these plugged into their usual plug when you’re not even charging anything, but did you know they still use energy when they’re simply plugged in? It’s true!
Tip:> This one’s simple. Just unplug your charger when you’re done using it.
