Folks who reside in the Sacramento, California, area and who are hoping to invest in solar energy systems may be able to take advantage of a new initiative that makes this and other energy-efficient upgrades more cost-effective.
In a March 28 press release, Ygrene Energy Fund, a leading developer and administrator of clean energy financing programs, announced that it is forming a partnership with the Sacramento County Board of Supervisors that will help individuals within the county purchase renewable power solutions. Rather than making these investments upfront, homeowners will be able to pay for them over time through property tax bills.
According to Sacramento County Supervisor Phil Serna, the program has the potential to create 1,500 new jobs and $250 million in economic stimulus for every $100 million invested in eco-friendly upgrades.
“We commend Sacramento County for its work to unlock the financial and environmental benefits of energy and water infrastructure upgrades for the thousands of commercial buildings across the region,” Ygrene CEO Stacey Lawson said in the press release. “With the support of Ygrene, the County can now offer its property owners a simple and easy option to finance their home energy improvements at no upfront cost, and without any taxpayer money. We’re very excited about this partnership.”
It’s encouraging to see that the Golden State, whose efforts to go green have already put it ahead of the rest of the country when it comes to solar energy solutions, continues to pursue a future of renewable power.
